Muscle Shoals, Florence, Sheffield and Tuscumbia, four neighboring cities in the extreme northwest corner of Alabama, are collectively referred to by the locals as "The Shoals" and is home to approximately 131,000 people.
Muscle Shoals, best known for it's high quality recording studios and artists, has hosted such greats as Paul Simon, Sawyer Brown, Melissa Etheridge, The Rolling Stones, and many more.
The Tennessee River, which flows through the heart of the area, offers an excellent environment for boating, fishing, diving and water enthusiasts.
Wilson Dam is certainly an impressive sight to see
and if you should visit us there's a good chance you will. It's one of only three routes between Florence and Muscle Shoals and is one of the largest single lock dams in the world.
The Shoals is proud of being the birthplace of "The Father of the Blues", W. C. Handy and for the much admired Helen Keller.
But most of all - it's the people and the atmosphere that make The Shoals what it is - it's children fishing with cane poles - it's the smell of honeysuckle on a warm breeze - it's story telling on the courthouse lawn - it's family reunions, buttermilk biscuits and iced tea - it's the old gentleman in the pick up truck that smiles and waves whether he knows you or not. The Shoals, we're true southern and we'd love to show you our hospitality.
